For the development and enhancement of speech/language, social thinking and communication skills.

Bully Boot Camp
Many children with special needs have social cognitive challenges placing them as most vulnerable for a bully attempt.  Bully Boot Camp is designed to provide children with special needs an understanding of peer violence, help them to build skills and develop strategies to assist them when encountering these situations, and increase awareness of their own communication and behavior and the impact on interpersonal relationships. 

Participants will:

1.     Learn the different types of bullying behavior.
2.     Learn about the different roles in a bully situation.
3.     Develop strategies to assist them when they encounter a bullying situation.
4.     Increase awareness of communication and behavior skills.
5.     Increase self esteem in order to empower participants to do the right thing.

Camp Superflex TM
Camp Superflex TM  is based on the work of Michelle Garcia Winner and Stephanie Madrigal and is designed for students with social learning challenges.  This 6-week social thinking and communication skills program will address the complex issues of self-regulation and behavior common to many children with social learning challenges. Through the use of the Superflex &A Superhero Social Thinking Curriculum and creative activities, participants will learn about flexibility in thinking and behavior and the evil villains that work hard to undermine flexible thinking.

Participants will:

1.     Learn about the concepts of flexible thinking.
2.     Learn about behaviors that interfere with flexible thinking.
3.     Develop self awareness and self-monitoring of their behavior.
4.     Learn to become flexible thinkers.

Social Detective Training Academy- Summer Session
Children will learn the basic concepts of social thinking.  They will develop the tools and skills necessary to becoming good social detectives.  Social Detectives use their social smarts in all different places and situations. Successful social detectives know what is expected, can make smart guesses and become better social thinkers.  Good social detectives are able to find and understand clues, listen with their eyes and brains to determine what is expected, and learn how to remain being part of the group.

Participants will:

1.     Become familiar and learn social thinking vocabulary
2.     Become familiar and learn social thinking concepts
3.     Learn how to use our social tools to understand what is expected, how to make smart guesses and become better social thinkers.

Brothers and Sisters  Summer Session
Brothers and Sisters is a program to promote and develop appropriate interactions between and among siblings. The program is designed to facilitate the play and/or interaction patterns between and among the child with special needs and his/her siblings to develop more appropriate, productive and fulfilling family relationships.  The goals for each group are specifically determined by the profile and needs of the family.

Participants will:

1.     Learn to understand about their sibling with special needs
2.     Learn strategies for play and/or interaction with each other
3.     Increase awareness of the strengths of their sibling with special needs
4.     Begin to build stronger and more rewarding relationships with siblings and parents.

Mama, Papa, & Me
Mama, Papa & Me is a language based socialization program for toddlers and preschoolers & their parents or caregivers. It is designed to facilitate the communication, play and socialization needs of young children with special needs in a structured group setting.  Parents and caregivers will be active participants in activities allowing for interaction with their children, as well as an opportunity for the speech language pathologist to facilitate play and model techniques that will enhance the communicative abilities in the children.

Participants will:

1.     Explore various avenues for interaction between parent/caregiver and child.
2.     Learn techniques to engage the child in successful and rewarding exchanges.
3.     Learn how to facilitate communication with their child
4.     Have fun.

Play Pals  Summer Session
Play Pals is designed for preschoolers from 3 through 5 years of age and incorporates structured play activities, literacy, role play, games, music and movement, sensory experiences, and art projects.  The focus is on language enrichment, listening skills, social interaction and motor skills.  Our child  centered program uses a developmental approach to increase awareness of others, foster engagement, encourage problem solving, and promote expansion of play schemas and social interactions.

Play Pals, our preschool play and communication skills program runs all year long.  The summer session is an opportunity to be introduced to the program as well as an option for extended year services.  

Participants will:
1.     Begin to improve sharing skills.
2.     Increase awareness of others sharing space.
3.     Begin to expand play schemas and interests.
4.     Begin to increase social communication skills.
5.     Have fun!

Kid Connect  Summer Session
Kid Connect is a program designed for children of all ages who present with social inadequacies secondary to expressive, pragmatic and social language and social cognitive deficits.  The aim of the program is to improve the understanding of social situations, social thinking, and use of language and to develop communication strategies for successful peer interactions and family relationships.  It will focus on facilitating the verbal and nonverbal communication, play and interaction skills necessary to enjoy meaningful and fulfilling social relationships. 

Kid Connect runs all year long for the development and enhancement of communication and social thinking skills.  The summer session is an opportunity to be introduced to the program as well as an option for extended year services. 

Participants will:

1.     Become aware of the concepts of social thinking and communication.
2.     Become familiar with social expectations and behavior.
3.     Begin to understand how to maximize interactions with peers.
4.     Have fun!
