Between 3- 5 years of age, our preschoolers are embarking on a time of remarkable growth, exploration and discovery. It is also a time when your child begins to develop the building blocks of speech, language and social skills, which provide the foundation for future academic success.
There are some early warning signs that your child may be having difficulty acquiring important communication, learning and social ability. If you answer “yes” to any of the following questions, it could be a sign that your child would benefit from one or more of the services offered by Good Talking People LLC.
Does your preschooler:
- Have trouble understanding concepts or vocabulary?
- Have trouble expressing feelings, ideas, and experiences?
- Have trouble listening, following directions, or answering questions?
- Have trouble learning numbers, letters, or days of the week?
- Have trouble interacting or playing with peers?
- Have trouble pronouncing words or being understood?
- Get distracted easily or become restless easily?
Speech and Language Evaluations
At Good Talking People LLC, we will assess your child’s speech, language and social communication skills in order to provide therapy and program recommendations and develop a treatment plan. The speech and language evaluation will be compliant with expectations for public school child study teams.
Speech and Language Therapy for Preschoolers
We offer comprehensive speech and language therapy services for preschoolers who need assistance with their speech, expressive and receptive language, pre-reading and listening skills, or are having trouble learning how to appropriately interact and communicate with others.
Building Socialization and Play Skills
Our Play Pals social lerning program helps preschoolers develop language, interaction, and play skills that are crucial to future success in school and in life. A weekly preschool play and communication skills program introduces the concepts of Social Thinking® in a structured language based setting.
For preschoolers who are having difficulty learning their numbers, letters or Kindergarten readiness skills, we offer individual instruction focusing on early literacy, including phonemic awareness, building auditory memory and attention. Using cutting edge computer programs and technology Good Talking People LLC will better prepare them for kindergarten.
Computer Based Programs
Just as a painter needs to prep his canvas for a painting, sometimes, in order to facilitate sustained learning, we need to prep our brains. Cogmed Working Memory Training ™ is an evidenced-based program for helping young children to sustainably improve attention by training their working memory. Working memory is an essential cognitive function necessary for a wide-range of tasks related to attention and focus. It is the ability to keep information in your mind for several seconds, manipulate it, and use it in your thinking. It is central to concentration, problem solving, and impulse control. Poor working memory is the source of many problems related to attention and is often linked to ADHD, and other learning disabilities, which can result in difficulties in school, especially in reading comprehension and math.
Cogmed JM – Preschool: Younger children use their working memory for a number of things, such as focusing on and following instructions, and remaining seated to complete independent activities.
The Fast ForWord® program develops brain processing efficiency through intensive adaptive exercise. The programs develop and strengthen cognitive skills such as memory, attention, processing rate, and sequencing which are essential for learning and reading success resulting in improved critical language and reading skills such as phonological awareness, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, decoding, working memory, syntax, and grammar, among other skills.
Don’t let your preschooler slip behind this summer. Services available all summer for individual speech language therapy, social thinking groups and Social Express for PreK – Kindergarten social learners.
