    Speech Evaluations

    Full Assessment of Parameters of Speech

    • Oral Peripheral Speech Mechanism and Function
    • Articulation

    A full written evaluation report with recommendations for intervention completes the assessment.

    Speech and Language Evaluation

    Assessment will include at least two standardized measures, if applicable, addressing the areas of need*. Full Assessment of the Parameters of Speech and Language may include:

    • Oral Peripheral Speech Mechanism and Function
    • Articulation
    • Receptive Language
    • Pragmatic Language
    • Expressive Language (Oral and Written)
    • Phonemic Awareness
    • Other areas depending on need


    All assessment protocols are individually designed to address the presented concerns and weaknesses. * Evaluations for toddlers and Preschoolers will also include play based assessment procedures. A full written evaluation report with recommendations for intervention is included with the assessment.

    Comprehensive Speech and Language Evaluation

    Assessment will include at least one broad based language assessment with deep testing procedures to evaluate reported concerns and identified deficit areas. Protocols will address areas of high order language functions. This assessment is scheduled over two or more sessions. Deep Assessment of the Parameters of Speech and Language may include:

    • Oral Peripheral Speech Mechanism and Function
    • Articulation
    • Phonemic Awareness
    • Narrative Skills
    • Receptive Language
    • Pragmatic Language
    • Expressive Language (Oral and written)
    • Social Communication
    • Higher Order Language Functions

    All assessment protocols are individually designed to address the presented concerns and weaknesses. A full written evaluation report with recommendations for intervention is included with the assessment. School visits or observations are available for an additional fee and must be prearranged.

    Evaluation for Social Thinking and Communication Skills

    Assessment of social thinking and communication skills will include extensive interview and observation, formal assessment using specific language based protocols, social skills assessment tools and parameters from the ILAUGH model of social thinking. Evaluation will examine various parameters such as:

    • Higher Order Language Functions
    • Pragmatic Language Skills
    • Social Communication Skills
    • Perspective Taking
    • Inferential and Abstract Thinking
    • Gestalt Processing
    • Nonverbal Communication
    • Humor
    • Other areas depending on need


    Full written evaluation report with recommendations for intervention completes the assessment.

    Speech Language Consultaion

    A speech and language consultation does not include any formal assessment. This session is a review of records available and a diagnostic therapy session for the purposes of making recommendations for future services. Future services could include: a full evaluation, speech language therapy and/or related services. A written report is not provided but available for an additional fee.

    Individual Speech Language Therapy

    Each session is specifically designed to meet the individual needs identified for the client. Dynamic strategies and techniques incorporate high interest materials to facilitate progress and carry over.

    Fast ForWord Programs

    Our office is an official certified provider of the innovative computer training programs of Scientific Learning Corporation. All the Fast ForWord programs are available for either in the office administration or at home training. Based on more than 30 years of research, the Scientific Learning Family of products strengthens brain processing and literacy skill to increase reading proficiency in students of all ages.

    The Fast ForWord program develops brain processing efficiency through intensive adaptive exercise. The programs develop and strengthen cognitive skills such as memory, attention, processing rate, and sequencing that are essential for learning and reading success resulting in improved critical language and reading skills such as phonological awareness, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, decoding, working memory, syntax, grammar and among other skills.

    We offer all the current language and reading products of Fast ForWord Language and Fast ForWord Reading. Fast ForWord is available all year including summer.

    MAMA, PAPA & ME

    A language based socialization program for toddler and early preschoolers their parents

    Mama, Papa & Me is an 8-session parent-child intervention program designed to facilitate the communication, play and socialization needs of young children with special needs in a structured group setting. Modules of 8- sessions are scheduled seasonally throughout the year.

    The format of the program will include an opening and closing circle time and weekly theme-based lessons using developmentally appropriate activities to address play, social, language  speech skills. Parents and caregivers will be active participants in activities allowing for interaction time with their children, as well as an opportunity for the Speech Language Pathologist to facilitate play  model techniques that will enhance the communicative abilities in children with special needs.


    Social Thinking and Communication Skills Programs



      A Preschool Play  Communication Skills Program

      Designed for preschoolers from 3 through 5 years of age and incorporates structured play activities, literacy, role play, games, music  movement, sensory experiences, and art projects. The focus is on language enrichment, listening skills, social interaction and motor skills. Our child-centered program uses a developmental approach to increase awareness of other children, foster engagement, and encourage problem solving, expansion of play schemes and social interactions.



      A Program for the Development and Enhancement of Communication and Social Thinking Skills

      This program is designed for children of all ages who present with social inadequacies secondary to expressive, pragmatic  social language and social cognitive deficits. The aim of the program is to improve the understanding of social situations, social thinking, and use of language and to develop communication strategies for successful peer interactions and family relationships. It will focus on facilitating the verbal and nonverbal communications, play and interaction skills necessary to enjoy meaningful and fulfilling social relationships.

      Transitions

      A program designed for persons with social cognitive deficits in preparation for the many transitions of adult life.

      The program focuses on teaching skills for the facilitation of more meaningful peer relationships, employment opportunities, family relationships, community participation, post secondary education, and residential options. The program will address the social thinking, processing and communication skills necessary for meaningful and successful life relationships. The seminar-based program will also utilize real world experiences, field trips and guests to develop self awareness, self advocacy, perspective taking, gestalt processing, nonverbal communication and conversational skills to name a few.

      Brother & Sisters

      A Program to Promote and Develop Appropriate Interactions Between & Among Siblings

      Brothers and Sisters is a program for the siblings of all ages of a client with social cognitive inadequacies along with his/her sibling. The program is designed to facilitate the play and/or interaction patterns between and among the siblings to facilitate more appropriate, productive and fulfilling family relationships. The goals for each group are specifically determined by the profile and needs of the family.

      Individual Social Thinking and Communication Skills Sessions


      These individual sessions are designed to teach children of all ages the tools needed for social thinking and communication in a one to one setting.



School Programs

    School Speech and Language Evaluations

    Full speech language evaluation according to NJAC: 6A:14 compliance.

    Add on options:
    • Assistance with the development of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) based on the results of the evaluation
    • On-site observation
    • Attendance at IEP proceedings

    School Speech and Language Therapy Services

    Assist school districts in providing individual speech language therapy services to fulfill IEP requirements during the school year and for extended year obligations.

    School Speech Language Therapy and Contract Services

    Provide on site speech language therapy services to private, charter and public schools by contract for the school year and/or extended year services. Certified Speech Language Specialists provide all the state mandated services for your students

    School Social Thinking and Communications Skills Program

    Peanut Butter & Jamming social thinking and communication skills program for preschool through high school students within the school setting along with staff training supported by the school. This program can be arranged through the districts Department of Special Services and Board of Education and/or Special Education Parent Teacher Association.
